As self appointed chairman of the underwriters, I'd like to establish my presence on the site. As of today July 1st 2008 we have 27 people who have actually given me cash or a cheque. Most have given me £20 as an initial commitment, some have given the whole £100 because it's easier to make the effort once rather than twice. 27 out of the target of 50 with nearly 5 months to go is a great achievement. We have £1,180 in the Didsbury Beer Festival account. This allows us to pay for publicity and gives us confidence that we'll be able to buy the beer. So just another 23 people to find! Without releasing the full names of those who have given cash, I'd like to list the roll call of the righteous. They are: Mike, Jack, Patrick, Jeff, John, Nick, Mike, Vince, Will, John, Roger, Mike, John, Mike, Andrew, Keith, Mike, Nick and Caroline, Phil, Harry, Cecilia, Keith, Ian, Pat and Paul, John.

We now have 42 'supporters' paid up.

If we all asked one more person, we'd hit the 50 we are after.

We agreed at the last meeting not to stop if we hit 50 supporters paid up.
But we have to get to 50 first.

Big day today.
we now have 40 'underwriters'. 10 to go. We have also decided at tonight's action packed meeting to rename the people who are lending the festival their money 'supporters' rather than 'underwriters'. It has been suggested that 'underwriter' might be misunderstood as implying legal and financial responsibility, which of course it does not. So I will change my name also. Great to have 40 supporters anyway.

There is an option to flip order, I have done that and now the messages run from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom.  So for the latest entry just scroll down

First time chatting this - well done underwriter. Not a bad idea to follow Bob G's approach and say where's the ******** money!

Thanks climber (you're not called Will are you? by any chance), I discovered tonight that Biermeister is also known as Phil.

Three more £20 notes in my plastic wallet tonight. That's 3 more on the roll call of the righteous. They are Jim, Gerry and you guessed it - another Mike.
That takes us to 30 underwriters. I am after 50 by the 1st of September. I'll then ask all to £20 people for a further £80 by the end of September. So by then the Didsbury Beer Festival account will have £5K and the efforts will focus on buying and preparing.

The web site has already generated new volunteers for the festival.

Hi Underwriter

Great news, getting 27 people committing to back this event in such a short time is excelent work. I hope this website helps generate some more interest and brings in additional public spirited, real ale enthusiasts.  One question I have been asked is when are you targeting to have 50 people on board?  It is good to know that you are not expecting people to pay the full amount up front but I assume a point will come when we need to have the funds available to buy the beer and cider.

So, I should say we have two milestones to reach

1) 50 Underwriters pledging £100 each
2) £5000 in the Festival fund to pay for the stock

Regard

Climber
